Campus Safety
The Department of Safety and Protection is committed to working in collaboration with Immaculata University students, faculty, staff and visitors to support and advance the goals of the University through the provision of a safe and secure environment conducive to learning and personal achievement.
Campus Safety and Protection provides 24-hour security on campus. For further information, stop by the office in Lourdes Hall, Terrace Level, Room 2 or call 610-854-2451 or 610-647-4400, ext. 5555.
Campus safety officers are trained in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and are certified in the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). They respond immediately to a request for medical assistance, arrange for transportation to a hospital and coordinate other emergency services as needed.
When trying to decide if we should close or remain open due to inclement weather conditions, we do our best to make these decisions in a timely fashion. For day classes we attempt to make the decision by 5:30 a.m. and for evening classes by 2:30 p.m. If the University determines that a closure is not necessary, the University may choose to operate on a modified 2-hour delayed opening schedule.
The University will use the following channels to alert you in the event the institution is closed due to weather, or other emergencies: IU Alert, Social Media, MyIU, emergency alerts on the University website, as well as KYW News Radio and KYW Television (broadcast numbers: Day Classes–#871, Evening Classes–#2871, Graduate Classes–#868), and the University’s main phone number at 610-647-4400 by pressing 8 when prompted.
Immaculata University utilizes IU Alert, a mass notification system that sends emergency notifications and timely alerts to the Immaculata University community. In order to receive these notifications, you must sign up—you can register two wireless devices and two emails addresses. Sign up for IU Alert here.
Note: If you’ve previously signed up for e2Campus alerts, you do not need to sign up again for IU Alert.

Materials containing the required policies are located in the Office of Student Engagement and Development. Immaculata University encourages individual freedom and personal choice, but expects of its students recognition of their responsibility to the community and concern for the group. However, it also recognizes the University’s role to assume leadership in forming values.
Immaculata University conforms to the statutes of Pennsylvania concerning alcoholic beverages and accepts the responsibility to inform each student of his or her obligation to obey these laws. A student may not keep or consume alcoholic beverages in any form while on campus. Any student who in any way violates these regulations will be subject to disciplinary action. The actions imposed are enumerated in the Student Handbook.
The possession, use or sale of illegal drugs is not permitted. The University adheres to the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989. In addition to Immaculata’s disciplinary sanctions, violators are subject to legal sanctions under local, state and federal law. The disciplinary sanctions are enumerated in the Student Handbook.
